PSNZ

We are affiliated with The Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ). The Society provides guidelines for its member clubs and helps arrange judges for competitions. We receive their magazine, Camera Talk, published every second month.

Competitions

We run a monthly set subject competition which encourages our members to get out and take photos in a variety of genres, using a wide array of techniques. We also help teach the skills appropriate to these disciplines, by running workshops and discussing upcoming themes at meetings.

Every year we participate in the Northland Interclub competition along with the Dargaville and Whangarei Photography Clubs. Each club takes a turn at hosting this event, and a set subject is chosen by the hosting club.

Submissions to these competitions are marked by a PSNZ accredited judge, and there are various awards for those who score well. We also welcome members to submit photos for critique only, in which case the judge will provide feedback but not mark the images. This helps newer photographers develop their skills before competing.

New Members

New members joining after the 1st of July will pay half the full year’s subscription rate. The date you join is considered to be the date of the first meeting you attend (not the date the subscription is paid).

Visitors are welcome to attend three meetings or workshops before they are asked to join. To enter competitions you must have become a financial member of the club.
